Licensed School Social Worker
Cognitive Behavioral Therapist
TF-CBT and Trauma Specialist
Triple P Level 4 Accredited Provider
Through an approachable and engaging style, my goal is to help clients develop effective skills in order to achieve greater success and satisfaction at home, school or work and in their relationships. I have worked as a helping professional with youth, families & adults in a variety of settings, which provides me with a strong skill set and clinical foundation to provide therapeutic services.
The therapy model from which I primarily work with individuals and families is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, while incorporating elements of Positive Psychology, Motivational Interviewing and Expressive Therapies. For children, I also include Play Therapy and Behavior Modification. I emphasize empowerment, self-compassion, healthy relationships and experiences of happiness.
I am trained in several research and evidenced based treatment models, as I believe it is my responsibility to provide the most current and effective services to my clients. An example of this is my year-long training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), a highly effective treatment model for individuals who have experienced trauma, particularly sexual and physical abuse. I participated in a year-long learning community to become a facilitator for the evidence-based curriculum Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress (SPARCS). I am also a Certified Parent Educator Partner with the NC Cooperative Extension for Parenting Matters. I am a trained group clinician for Seeking Safety and a workshop facilitator for The 5 Love Languages by Dr. Gary Chapman. Most recently, I completed accreditation to be a Level 4 provider for one of the most effective evidence-based parenting program in the world, Triple P: Positive Parenting Program. Triple P is a universal program for all parents across all groups with over 30 years of scientific research to support its claims that it helps parents confidently and successfully prevent problems, manage their children's behavior, improve communication and develop strong relationships.
